Ayak Kap, 1960. K. Sarsenbayeva

1970. • Zhainamaz. Felt, felting. • From the collection of the A. Kasteev National Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan (244-b).

The piece is crafted using the traditional felting technique from natural white felt, the purity of whose colour symbolises spiritual sanctity and the intentions of the worshipper. The composition is simple yet deeply symbolic: two vertical ornamental bands visually delineate the sacred space, guiding the gaze and focusing the attention. The decoration is executed using the inlaid pattern technique, dominated by deep burgundy and dark red tones, complemented by splashes of blue and green in the form of small geometric shapes (triangles and diamonds). The restrained colour palette and soft texture of the felt emphasise the intimate nature of the piece, creating an atmosphere of tranquillity and peace.
