Etik

Traditional Kazakh footwear — “etik” boots with hard soles and heels — were handmade from durable horsehide. The parts were fastened with tendon threads, and the soles and heels were secured with small wooden nails. The boots were worn with felt stockings, which were formed in one piece, without seams, acquiring a comfortable, snug fit during wear. The upper edge of the stockings, which rose above the bootleg, was decorated with a strip of coloured fabric, adding a decorative accent and emphasising the aesthetic preferences of the owner.
