Tuireuish (brooch), a pendant-style chest ornament. This item is a decorative and amulet-like breast ornament that was used to fasten items of clothing whilst also serving a striking decorative purpose. The design consists of a rectangular plate with an elaborate frame made of wire elements. The upper part features fastenings for securing the piece to clothing. The lower edge is adorned with a system of pendants comprising metal elements, beads and coin-shaped pendants attached to wire hooks. The composition is structured along a horizontal axis. The central part of the plate is accentuated by three inserts arranged in a row, dominated by a large oval element. A rhythmic border of curved wire runs along the edge, forming an openwork outline. The lower section develops as a rhythmic line of pendants, enhancing the decorative dynamism. The ornamental scheme combines geometric and linear motifs. The central coral and glass inserts create colour accents that contrast with the silver base. The engraved background emphasises the shape and enhances the decorative richness. The pendant elements are complemented by coloured beads, creating an additional rhythm and colour variation. The pendants ensure the piece’s mobility and create a subtle acoustic effect when in motion. Overall, the brooch demonstrates the combination of functionality and decorative expressiveness characteristic of the north-eastern regions, where design and ornamentation form a unified artistic image.
