Altynai Asylmuratova: «Carpe Diem»

People’s Artist of Russia, prima ballerina of the Mariinsky Theatre and British Royal Ballet, currently the artistic director of the Astana Opera ballet company Altynai Asylmuratova together with the ballet company director, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan Tursynbek Nurkaliev have created a Gala Ballet program, which will take place on June 21 at the opera house’s Grand Hall.

During the years of her career as a ballerina, Altynai Asylmuratova showed the world unforgettable choreographic portrayals. Later, as the artistic director, the People’s Artist have transferred outstanding choreographers’ dance numbers – pearls of classical ballets to many theatrical venues.

- In this Gala program, we have included pieces that had never been performed in Astana Opera before. We would like this creative work to show our audience the young artists of our troupe from a new angle, – said Altynai Asylmuratova.

The two-part, ninety-minute program will feature duets, trios, pas de deux, grand pas, and fragments from the most famous and beloved ballets, such as «Die Puppenfee» by J. Bayer, «Scheherazade» by N. Rimsky-Korsakov, «Ghostly Ball» to the music of F. Chopin, «Spring Waters» by S. Rachmaninoff, «Don Quixote» by L. Minkus, «Flames of Paris» by B. Asafiev, «The Dying Swan» by C. Saint-Saens, «Polovtsian Dances» from A. Borodin’s opera «Prince Igor», dance «Bishі Kayn» staged by Galiya Buribaeva to the music by K. Kumisbekov and more.

Artists worked long and hard preparing the dances, perfecting every move. The youngest dancers will perform alongside the experienced ballet artists: Madina Basbayeva, Gaukhar Usina, Aigerim Beketayeva, Anel Rustemova, Tair Gatauov, Zhandos Aubakirov, Bakhtiyar Adamzhan, Arman Urazov, Assel Kusainova, Serik Nakyspekov, Eldar Sarsembayev, Gulzira Zhantemir, Marat Abdrakhmanov, Nazerke Aimukhametova.

- The program features many interesting pieces. I would like to note that with each new concert, its content will change, and if the audience does not see, for example, this project, they will not be able to see it later. Therefore, seize the day, – concluded Altynai Asylmuratova.

The audience will be impressed with not only new dances, but also new scenery and costumes, designed and manufactured by the Astana Opera Scenic Shop and Costume Shop staff. – We have changed the details of all the costumes we have worked on, in particular for the «Scheherazade» dance number, but the general look of the costumes have remained the same as in the original productions of the presented performances. When choosing colors we stuck with soft romantic hues: light blue and light pink, turquoise, – said the designer Assel Dosmuratova.

The concert starts at 19.00; the ticket prices will range from 500 tenge.
