History

The Kazakh Research Institute of Culture was founded in 1934 as one of the first research centers in Kazakhstan and immediately became a stronghold of national science. Its founders and pioneers included prominent scholars and educators such as Sarsen Amanzholov, Saken Seifullin, Mukhtar Auezov, Akhmet Baitursynov, Konyrkozha Kozhykov, Sanjar Asfendiyarov, Kudaibergen Zhubanov, and others.

Today, the staff of the Kazakh Research Institute of Culture, including representatives of the academic and creative intelligentsia, as well as renowned scholars from Kazakhstan and other countries, continue the work of their great predecessors. They are actively engaged in research and devote their intellectual potential and passion to the study, understanding, development, and promotion of Kazakhstan’s unique cultural heritage. At the same time, the Institute brings together young scholars and creative managers who conduct research across a broad range of fields, including culture, history, art, and archaeology, using new methodological strategies.

Mission

The mission of the Kazakh Research Institute of Culture is to conduct an in-depth and systematic analysis of the cultural sphere in accordance with the cultural policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, promote integration into the global cultural space, and foster effective international cooperation.
